i would take this one over the Otto cast!! I have had both and the Otto cast disconnected dozens of times during calls, wouldnāt connect randomly, would just stop working! I contacted the company & they asked me to video when it happened. Which I said to them is extremely hard to do when you are in a car alone and driving!!!

So as promised today I will be doing a āfirst impressionsā review of a CarPlay wireless adaptor.
Firstly, due to a technical issue at MY end with my phone ā¹ļø I am not reviewing the unit I originally intended to.
Thinking the issue was with the CarPlay + android Auto adapter that David Guevara kindly send, I returned it and he offered to send me out a CarPlay only version to try, which kinda made sense as I only have iPhone! Well now we know the issue was with my phone, not the adapter, but it goes to show how great David is. 10/10 for his service, know how and willingness to work with the customer.
Anyhow into the review.
Initial thoughts.
Wow this unit is SMALL. As you can see it fits in the palm of my hand (excuse the manky bandaid!). Itās light and comes supplied with all the appropriate cables (USB A - C and USB C - C) needed to connect to the MG or any other car.
The words on the top of the unit light up to show the various āconditionsā. Red for power but not ready, Blue flashing for ready and in pairing mode/connecting, and solid Blue for connected.
After plugging the adapter in, an image pops up on the infotainment system telling you the name of the Bluetooth device you need to connect to.
You click the device on your iPhone, the usual pairing details come up, followed by asking permission to sync contacts and finally to use CarPlay. And thatās it.
Once the CarPlay system comes onto the infotainment screen itās exactly the same as the wired system, although personally I actually feel it is MORE responsive and quicker to change screens etc.
I had Maps, Music, calendar all open and running without any issues. Lovely bright screens and no lag. I also received a call while testing and it worked perfectly.
Just like when you have the car connected by wired CarPlay, you are able to go back to the MG menus etc. on the CarPlay screen, it shows and icon called CAR rather than MG.
The unit comes with a small piece of double sided tape that would allow you to secure it up out of the way, possibly on the of the space, as this would then allow you to still pop your phone in front of the gear shift for storage and to charge via the other USB socket.
The only issue I did have is that if someone uses the connected phone, for a game etc, while CarPlay is active, it stopped the steering wheel controls working (but not the touch screen). That could be because itās probably not intended to use the phone while itās in CarPlay mode, but you have to test these things. The controls did come back online after about 5 mins when my partner stopped playing games on the phone lol.
Overall I would definitely give this product a 9/10 so far.
We are planning some long distance driving over the holidays so I will do a follow up review in a couple of weeks to give you my final thoughts.
I will include a link to the product once David has it ready to go as he is going to have this device aimed at MG owners.
